FAQ
Questions riders ask
01 Which bike will I ride on a dirt bike booking?
The KTM Dirt Bike 450 CC, a single-rider bike you can book for one, two or three hours. It is the one dirt bike on our booking form, so every dirt bike ride with us is on this machine. It is for adults of 18+ with solid off-road riding behind them. The KTM page covers the bike and the three ride lengths in detail.
02 Does the 1 Hour Ride on the KTM mean 60 minutes in the saddle?
Not quite. The one-hour slot starts with a warm-up, which leaves around 40 minutes of riding on the dunes. If you want more time actually moving, booking two hours (AED 1,250) or three (AED 1,450) gives you far more riding for each dirham spent. Three hours for AED 1,450 costs much less per hour than a single hour at AED 850.
03 Is fuel extra on the KTM?
No. Fuel for the bike is included in every KTM fare, and so are the racing kit, the helmet and goggles, the collarbone and knee guards, the instructor's briefing and training, and the guide. Anything extra is your choice on the booking form, for example transport, camel rides, sandboarding or a camp.
04 Can a 16 or 17 year old ride the KTM with a parent alongside?
No. The KTM is strictly for riders aged 18 and over, with or without a parent riding too. Teenagers can still ride in the dunes on their own machine. Teens of 14 to 17 can take the 220 CC COBRA Single Seater Quad Bike ( Fenced Area ), from AED 200 for a 30 Min Ride, and it keeps to the fenced area throughout.
05 What is the difference between a Polaris RZR and a Can-Am Maverick X3?
Both are dune buggies built with 2 or 4 seats, and both come in a standard and a turbo version. On our rate card, a Polaris is always the cheaper of the two for the same seats and length. For a 1 Hour Ride, the 2 Seater Polaris Dune Buggy RZR 1000 CC is AED 900, while the 2 Seater Can-Am Maverick X3 is AED 1,499. Compare all eight on the dune buggy rental page.
06 Which buggy is the top of the range?
The Can-Am Maverick X3 RS TURBO RR, in a 2 seat or 4 seat build. The 4 Seater Can-Am Maverick X3 RS TURBO RR is the highest fare on the form, per buggy: AED 1,400 for half an hour, AED 2,700 for an hour, AED 5,200 for two. Split four ways, the 1 Hour Ride comes to AED 675 per person.
07 Is a turbo buggy worth the extra cost?
That depends on what you want from the ride. Every turbo model costs more than its standard twin: the 2 Seater Polaris Dune Buggy RZR 1000 CC Turbo is AED 900 for 30 minutes, against AED 600 for the standard 2 seater. If you want the stronger version of a model, choose turbo. If you want more minutes on the sand for the same budget, the standard build stretches further.
08 What does fenced area mean, compared with open deep desert?
The fenced area is a set riding space where some quads stay for the whole ride. It suits younger and newer riders. The kids quad, the COBRA and the SHARMAX Quad Bike Single Seater (Fenced Area) ride there. Open deep desert quads, such as the Kymco, Yamaha, double seater, sports quad and Raptor 700, head out into the dunes. Each quad's area is fixed on the booking form.
09 Is the Raptor 700 a manual quad?
Yes. The Quad Bike Raptor Manual 700 CC ( Open Deep Desert ) is a manual quad that rides in the open deep desert. It is sold only as a 1 Hour Ride at AED 795 or a 2 Hour Ride at AED 1,550, per quad. Not sure a manual suits you? Message us first and we will help you pick an open-desert quad.
10 Why are there no 30-minute rides on the sports quad or the Raptor?
These two are offered only in longer slots. The Single Seater Sports Quad Bike (open deep desert) costs AED 700 for one hour or AED 1,250 for two. The Raptor 700 manual is AED 795 and AED 1,550. Every other quad, plus every buggy, also has a 30 Min Ride if you only want a short taste of the dunes.
11 Can two people share one quad?
Yes, on the Double Seater Quad Bike ( Open Deep Desert ). It carries two people and is priced per quad: AED 350 for the 30 Min Ride, AED 425 for the 1 Hour Ride and AED 820 for the 2 Hour Ride. Sharing the 30-minute fare makes it AED 175 each. All other quads on our form are single seaters, one rider per machine. The quad biking page compares every model.
12 What time can my ride start?
You pick a start between 5:00 AM and 8:00 PM while booking, whichever slot suits your day. Dawn and late-afternoon slots tend to be the most comfortable for riding, with a lower sun. Adding a transfer moves your day earlier: the driver arrives an hour ahead, so a 5:00 AM ride has you waiting outside at 4:00 AM.
13 How many people fit in a private transfer?
One private car takes 5–6 people, for AED 450 per car. That suits families and friend groups well. For larger groups, you would book more than one car. A Sharing Transfer is the other option at AED 175 per person, but it needs at least two people from the same pickup location. Either car collects you 1 hour before your ride.
14 Can I add a camel ride or sandboarding to my ride?
Yes. You can tick both while booking your ride, so everything lands in one order. The Camel Ride in Desert 20 – 25 min is AED 150 per person, and SandBoarding is AED 50 per person. Add-ons are priced per person, unlike the rides themselves, which are priced per vehicle. Choose them when you book so they appear in your total.
15 What is the difference between the Standard and Premium Camp?
Both are evening camps with a BBQ dinner and live entertainment shows. The Standard Camp ( BBQ Dinner + Live Entertainment Shows) is AED 125 per person and the Premium Camp ( BBQ Dinner + Live Entertainment Shows ) is AED 250 per person. Either one needs a private transfer. In winter (October–March), pickup is 2:45–3:30 PM with drop-off at 9:00–9:30 PM; in summer (April–September), pickup is 3:45–4:30 PM.
16 Is there a desert safari that includes a quad ride?
Yes, two. The Classic Evening Desert Safari with BBQ Dinner + 30 Min ATV Quad Bike is priced at AED 375 for adults and AED 340 for children, and the Morning Desert Safari With Land Cruiser 4X4 + 30 Min ATV Quad Bike at AED 290 for adults and AED 285 for children. Both add 30 minutes on a quad to the safari itself. Private safari cars are priced per car instead.
17 Can I walk into the JBR office and ride the same day?
